Geotechnical Engineer

Position Type: Full Time, Permanent

Must be eligible for registration in the Province of BC, Canada

Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer.

Work involves small to medium size projects ranging from slope assessments, foundation studies, retaining wall designs, footing inspections, Worker's Compensation Board inspections, construction materials reviews

Duties:

-          Multi-tasking capabilities are essential. 

-          Foundation evaluations

-          Site hazard assessments including slope stability analyses

-          Reinforced soil/retaining wall system design and construction monitoring

-          Geotechnical construction monitoring

-          Roadway analysis and design

-          Ground disposal (septic) field evaluations and subdivision approvals.

Engineering Technician/Technologist 

Description:

We are seeking a "take charge" individual to assume a senior technologist or intermediate engineering role in our Courtenay office.

We are a small engineering company based in Nanaimo. Due to significant growth in our Courtenay office, we are confident that, given the right individual, this operation can be as successful as our Nanaimo operation.

The chosen individual must possess at least 8 years of experience in geotechnical and/or materials engineering (soils/concrete/asphalt). The chosen individual must be eligible for, or be a member of ASTTBC or APEG.

The individual must be able to multi-task and can coordinate a small, yet growing staff of junior to intermediate technical staff.

Our work in the Courtenay area is interesting and challenging. A keen sense of judgement mixed with excellent client relation skills will be the most important traits. As a small firm, we will expect the individual to be performance-driven and capable of providing a wide range of technical expertise and hard work. We expect the individual to be 50/50 office/field oriented. Travel throughout Northern Vancouver Island will be required.

Most importantly, Courtenay is the gateway to some of the best outdoors living that Vancouver Island has to offer, so the individual must be able to understand the importance of enjoying that.
