The BC Building Code requires that a Geotechnical Engineer be retained to provide Geotechnical Assurance services for the construction of buildings. Geotechnical Assurance services included under the BC Building Code Schedule B include review of the geotechnical components of the plans and supporting documents, and responsibility for field reviews of these components during construction.
Typical inspections or field reviews conducted during the construction of building include:
- Subgrade Inspection
- Bearing Capacity of soil or structural fill
- Density testing by nuclear method for structural/engineered fill
- Permanent Dewatering (site/perimeter drainage)
