Geotechnical soils investigation
Building foundations
City of Nanaimo, Aquatic Center - The City of Nanaimo has constructed
a new swimming facility and LGE
provided geotechnical investigation with a view to environmental
assessment of subsurface conditions. Investigation and observations
confirmed absence of substantial contaminants. In addition, LGE has carried out all materials testing
and foundation monitoring for the project.
Malaspina University College ASTEC Building, Library,
Student Residences – LGE has provided and is providing
geotechnical and materials testing services to Malaspina
University College during their expansion phase.
Port Alberni Wal-Mart and Mall
Four Seasons (Grand) Hotel, Nanaimo - LGE provided Phase 1, Environmental Assessment and geotechnical
engineering for this prestigious new Hotel with about 120 rooms.
The site is surrounded by development but was free of any adverse
substances. Geotechnical involvement included foundation design,
inspection, and stability review of adjacent rock slopes.
Roads and highways
Highway 4 S-Bends Project – LGE provided Quality Control
for Milner Trucking during the re-alignment of Highway 4A on the
approaches to Port Alberni in the spring of 2004. This involved
both Geotechnical and Materials Engineering including rock
evaluations for blasting.
Highway 4 Ucluelet Turnoff to Lost Shoe
Creek - Geotechnical
evaluation and investigation for a future major highway upgraded.
Subdivision soils assessments
Avonlea Development - Our involvement has included geotechnical
investigation, mines assessment and mines reparation, drainage
studies and construction monitoring.
Elsie Lake Dam – BC Hydro – LGE acted as the QC
representative for the rebuilding of two hydro dams at Elsie Lake
in Port Alberni
