Hazardous Materials

Hazardous materials and related risk assessments are required by WorkSafe BC and most municipalities before demolition or renovation of buildings is undertaken, as well as for post-fire and -flood restoration. These investigations typically require an inventory of Asbestos containing materials (ACM), Lead based paint (LBP), PCB-containing electrical apparatus, ozone depleting substances (ODS), heavy metals such as Mercury, mould contamination and other bio-hazards, and building specific hazards.

LEA has extensive experience with these assessments, and regularly provides the required report(s) in a short turn-around time at competitive prices. This is made possible by our in-house analytical capabilities for bulk Asbestos materials, Lead based paint (LBP) screening by field portable X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), and fungal spore analysis.
